“Don’t Forget Me,” She Whispered….
There she stood – the scruffy shell of the town’s former place to see and be seen.
Fading like the beauty of the aging starlets’ faces who’d graced her main screen decades ago and aptly christened as the Pitt, her marquee seemed to mock the community’s latest efforts at revitalization – foreshadowing another failure of leadership during yet another economic decline.
“Don’t forget me,” she whispered, begging for one last photo. “I was something in my day.”
